Drivers near the CenterPlace Shopping Center may face delays next week as repairs are made to a manhole cover at a nearby intersection.
On Wednesday, crews will begin work to repair a manhole cover at 26th Street and 47th Avenue, west of CenterPlace. Repairs should take three to four hours, according to a city news release, but temperatures can affect how long the concrete takes to cure. The city anticipates traffic impacts for a couple of days.
Only westbound drivers turning south onto 47th Avenue and southbound drivers turning east onto CenterPlace Drive will be allowed to make left turns. Southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane through the intersection, and northbound traffic will not be affected.
Westbound traffic on CenterPlace Drive will be detoured north on 47th Avenue to 24th Street, west to 49th Avenue Court and south to 26th Street.
Vehicles turning left onto 47th Avenue damaged the manhole frame over time, requiring repairs, according to the city. Drivers passing over the manhole cover can dislodge it, making for unsafe road conditions.
Drivers are asked to watch for traffic cones and signs as the work is underway.
